Florence is one of my favorite cities in Italy.I’ve been there a few times and I keep going back—not just for the art and history (which are obviously amazing), but for the food, the vibe, and the way the city makes you slow down.
(Unless you’re there between March and August—then it’s more like slow because you’re stuck behind 200 people trying to take the same photo on the Ponte Vecchio. But still, Florence is worth it.)
This isn’t a typical tourist guide—just a list of spots I personally love. Some are local places, and some are super popular but actually worth it.If you’re planning a trip, or just daydreaming about Florence, here’s my go-to list of where to eat, what to do, and where to wander.
🍝 Where I Like to Eat in Florence
All’Antico Vinaio
Yes, it’s touristy. Yes, the line is long. But the sandwiches? Actually that good. They have a few locations now, but my favorite is the one near Museo Galileo. Most of the time, I grab a sandwich there and then walk over to the little bridge right in front of the museum.
It’s the perfect spot to sit, eat, and enjoy the view along the river—plus, it feels a bit calmer than eating right in the middle of the crowd.Tip: Go early or outside of peak lunch hours to avoid the worst of the lines.

Ristorante Frescobaldi
If you’re in Florence and craving a proper sit-down meal, this is the spot. Their bistecca alla fiorentina (Florentine steak) is a must—perfectly cooked, juicy, and full of flavor.
The vibe? Classy but not too formal—think elegant without feeling stiff. Great for when you want something special but still relaxed.

Osteria dall’Oste
Another solid pick for steak lovers! The bistecca here is top quality—tender, flavorful, and cooked just right.
The place has a warm, cozy vibe—perfect if you’re looking for something a little less touristy but still delicious.

Trattoria Zà Zà
A classic spot for all-around Italian comfort food. Yes, it’s popular with tourists—but honestly, there’s a reason it’s always packed. The food is solid, the portions are generous, and the vibe is lively.
Perfect for when you just want a bit of everything on the table.

Osteria Pastella
Yes, it’s a bit touristy—but honestly, totally worth it. Especially for their spaghetti with parmesan and truffle—they literally prepare it right in front of you, mixing it in a giant cheese wheel.
It’s one of my personal favorites. Go hungry!

Mercato Centrale
Near Santa Maria Novella, this is great if you’re with friends who all want different things. It’s like a giant food court with options from all over the world, but still has solid Italian choices too.
Gelato Picks
Gelateria dei Neri – My go-to spot for gelato.
La Strega Nocciola – For hazelnut lovers.
Vivoli – Super famous, super creamy, super delicious. But honestly? The cream and pistachio are amazing, though €6–8 feels a bit steep. Up to you.

La strega nocciola
L'affogato al pistacchio
Pasta Station
I forgot the exact name (I think it’s called Pasta Station), but it’s a small place that makes homemade pasta at great prices. Super simple, super good.

Com Saigon (Vietnamese Bonus!)
If you’ve had enough Italian for the day, grab a bowl of pho at Com Saigon. Perfect on a colder day.

Il Bovo
Il Bovo is hands down one of the best burger places I’ve ever tried. My favorite? The one with wild honey—I loved it so much I asked for extra, extra honey (haha). Highly recommended!

Convivio
This charming spot is perfect for enjoying an aperitivo—whether you're savoring some quiet me-time or sharing laughs with friends. Great vibes, delicious drinks, and the ideal way to unwind!
